ELO LAUNCHES ITS NEXT-GENERATION 90-SERIES OPEN FRAME TOUCHMONITORS

New state-of-the-art, cost-effective monitors to enhance engagement in gaming and kiosk applications

MILPITAS, Calif. — February 2, 2016 — Elo, a global supplier of touchscreen solutions, today announced the availability of its next-generation 90-Series Open Frame Touchmonitors for gaming and kiosk applications. The new monitors address demands from gaming customers looking for affordable projected capacitive touch technology (PCAP) platforms, to ensure better screen durability and performance. Designed with Elo’s innovative 2-glass (2GS) PCAP solution, the 90-Series will bring a new level of rugged, more sensitive, multi-touch monitors for enhanced player experiences, while casino operators can boost revenue-per-visitor numbers by attracting players with new design possibilities. For kiosk use, the monitors offer a new modern, sleek design to help drive engagement and create faster customer service interactions.

With 12 different models featuring true-flat glass-to-edge surfaces and bezeled options, Elo's 90-Series monitors are available in sizes ranging from 10 to 27-inches. For those not ready to move to its state-of-the-art PCAP technology, Elo still offers designers IntelliTouch® Zero-Bezel (iTouch® ) - its innovative true flat glass-to-edge surface acoustic wave (SAW) solution, IntelliTouch (SAW), and AccuTouch resistive options. Existing customers looking to reduce costs can rely on the 90-Series to deliver a full product line of refreshed units – all designed to be mechanically standardized and backwards compatible to allow for drop in replacements of existing models. The common design, electronics and port layout of the touchmonitors allow for easy transition between sizes. All models are made from professional, commercial-grade components specifically designed to extend product life and suit any upright, tabletop or bartop application.

Elo's 2GS PCAP technology comprises two layers of glass without any plastic film for optimal image quality and long-term stability. As film PCAP comes with an increased risk of delamination and loss of sensitivity due to the expansion and contraction of plastic, and can yellow when exposed over time to the heat and humidity found in many gaming jurisdictions, by using two layers of glass, Elo’s 90-Series will provide a more suitable and resistant option for varied uses and environments.

“With our touchscreen design and manufacturing expertise, we’ve been able to bring the broadest offerings of touchmonitors to gaming and kiosk applications – and using the highest quality PCAP technology at an affordable price-point the industry will appreciate,” said Jason Krause, senior product manager at Elo. “We’re seeing increased demand for this technology, especially in gaming and kiosk applications where the lure of attracting younger, more tech savvy users has kept it on the wish list of many. We’re providing customers with platforms to offer better interactive experiences and enhance engagement.”

The ultimate gaming experience

Until now, the gaming industry has relied on the same touchscreen technology for 30 years – Surface Acoustic Wave (SAW) and traditional Surface Capacitive. Scaling PCAP to mainstream machines with screen sizes of 22 to 27-inches has traditionally priced out most slot developers. But as the industry evolves, Elo’s 90-Series monitors will put the sought-after, high-grade 2GS PCAP within reach at a more affordable price. By upgrading, cabinet makers can benefit from modern true flat design possibilities and game designers can implement touch gestures and up to 10 simultaneous touches expected by younger players, both enhancing players’ gaming experiences, without increasing costs.

Optimum kiosk engagement

For kiosk applications, the monitors have been engineered to be ultra-thin for sleek, more aesthetically pleasing kiosk points which take up less space in areas with high footfall. They allow for a seamless service whether used for information, food ordering, airport and hotel check-in. With durable surfaces built to withstand heavy-use environments, these next-generation gaming and service kiosks can help boost visitor engagement, provide a modern, more personalized experience, and ensure faster customer service interactions.

The Elo 90-Series touchmonitors will be available from May 2016, with drawings, samples and pricing available much sooner. All products come with either standard or wide-screen aspect ratios, worldwide agency approvals including UL, and Elo’s three-year global warranty.
